Summer School of Combatives
Human performace and injury prevention in combat sports
The aim of the event is to share knowledge on benefits of martial arts, combat sports and self-defence training. The organizational team is composed of professionals from different combative systems. There is one specific topic of summer school each year that is in the front line of training units. This year we will look into the combat sports from the very important but often neglected perspective – the human body with its potential and also limitations.
Our guest lecturer Dr. Jožef Šimenko from the University of Greenwich is a specialist in the field of human performance, injury prevention and rehabilitation in combat sports. Jožef Šimenko will share his experiences with conditioning and strength training for professional combat sports athletes and for military or special police forces. You will also learn the correct combative techniques to prevent injury, and basics of common injury rehabilitation. All lectures are mostly practical with little theory. Apart from practical exercises, you will have the chance to test your body and analyse your skills, potential or risks in our laboratories.
