Masaryk University

Masaryk University is the premier university in Moravia and the second oldest university in the Czech Republic. Founded in 1919 as a counterpart to Charles University in Prague, it was named after T. G. Masaryk, the first President of Czechoslovakia. Today Masaryk University comprises nine faculties with more than 200 departments, institutes and clinics covering a broad range of academic disciplines and fields of research. The buildings of the university are concentrated close to Brno's historic old city centre. More than 42,000 students from the Czech Republic, Europe and the rest of the world study at the university, with over 4,000 of them living in university halls of residence.
